This journey takes you through diverse landscapes using gravel roads, technical 4×4 sections, and carefully selected camping spots that highlight the raw beauty of the region. Expect rewarding days behind the wheel, wide open spaces, and relaxed evenings around the campfire with like‑minded adventurers. Limited to a small convoy of vehicles, the adventure includes camping and park fees, guide fees, and a fully equipped guide vehicle. Price is per person sharing.

Day 1: Ruacana Border Crossing – Oncocua
– Morning border crossing at Oncocua Ruacana
– Off-road track to Oncocua
– Wild camping
– Lunch on the way, dinner at camp
– No internet
Day 2: Oncocua – Iona National Park: 130km
– Continue to Iona National Park (5,840 sq km), ranking as Angola’s largest park
– Visit rock paintings, tribes, and sand dunes
– Meet the Himba, Kimbundu, and Mucubal people, farmers and livestock herders living in the area for over 1000 years
– Wild camping
– Lunch on the way, dinner at camp
– No internet
Day 3: Iona National Park – Tombua: 150km
– Explore the park, exit at Pediva Gate
– Camp near Tombua
– Visit the Colinas de Curocu
– Lunch on the way, dinner at camp
– Internet available in Tombua
Day 4: Tombua – Namibe – Pipas Beach: 130km
– Supplies and lunch at Namibe Waterfront Restaurant
– Continue to Pipas Beach for camping
– Dinner at camp
– No internet
Day 6: Pipas Beach – Benguela – Lobita: 400km
– Coastal road to Benguela, passing Bentiaba, Lucira, and Domba Grande
– Beach camping at Lobita (Alfa Bar)
– Limited internet on the road, available in Lobito
Day 7: Benguela – Sumbe – Fazenda Rio Uiri: 313km
– Continue to Sumbe, then turn east and climb the escarpment wall into Gabela’s rain forest (Kumbira Forest)
– Visit Binga Falls
– Overnight at Fazenda Rio Uiri, a historic coffee farm with an old colonial-style farmhouse (rooms) or camping options
Day 8: Sumbe – Black Rocks: 410km
– Drive through beautiful landscapes and past the Cuanza River
– Camp at Pungo Andungo’s old colonial village
– Limited internet
Day 9: Black Rocks – Calandula Falls:95km
– Explore Black Rocks
– Continue to Calandula Falls (approx. 2.5 hours)
– Camp at Pousada De Calandula with a stunning view of the falls
– Lunch and dinner at camp
– Internet available
Day 10: Calandula Falls – Huambo: 630km
– Return via Quibala, passing historic Bridge 14
– Drive through Ovimbundu tribal heartland to Huambo on the central highland
– Lunch on the way, dinner at camp outside Huambo
– Internet available
Day 11-13: Huambo to Lubango:410km
– Explore Lubango (2 days)
– Visit Tundavala and Christo Rei
– Travel through Humpata, visiting the Dorsland trekkers memorial
– Visit Leba Pass viewpoint
Day 14: Lubango – Ruacana Border Post
– Return to Ruacana border post
